Information:
Pacific Compounds Pharmacy and ZRT Laboratory will co-host a Continuing Education course on Thyroid Testing and Dosing: A Functional Approach to Assessment and Treatment of Hypothyroidism. This course will qualify you for 2.5 hours of CME (Category One), CNE or CPE credits. THe program is designed to provide the practitioner with an understanding of the underlying causes of thyroid symptomology and subclinical hypothyroidism, and includes a useful clinical tool to determine where physiologic and pharmacological problems may be occurring.

Topics will include:

  • Production, metabolism, binding and receptor function for thyroid hormones
  • Understanding the limitations in use and interpretation of standard thyroid testing
  • Using standard thyroid testing to differentiate hypothyroidism, functional hypothyroidism, and functional hypometabolism
  • Treatment considerations for low thyroid hormone production, poor metabolism, excessive hormone binding, and poor thyroid receptor function

The course presenter is Jim Paoletti, RPh, FAAFM, FACA, FIACP and Director of Provider Education and Hormone Consultant for ZRT Laboratory.

Plated dinners will be served during the lecture with your choice of:

  • Stuffed chicken breast saltimbocca with roasted red potatoes
  • Ribeye steak with baked potato (gluten free)
  • Pistachio crusted sea bass with rice pilaf

Cost is $50 and includes your choice of a dinner plate from the above list, 2.5 hours of CE credit and handout materials on assessment and treatment of hypothyroidism. Reservations and meal selections must be made by Friday, March 19th and payment given at the time of reservation.

Information:
Pacific Compounds Pharmacy is hosting a series of stand-alone Continuing Education courses to help Naturopathic Physicians learn about the new drugs now available on their formulary. There will be five courses in total, each worth 2 CE hours, and they will cover a both traditional and alternative therapies. If all five courses are completed, it will satisfy the 10 pharmacy CE hour requirement of the Naturopathic Board. CE hours can be applied to either Pharmacy or General credit, and the first course can also be used for Pain.

These courses are designed to provide you with the framework to help manage these new drug classes safely and effectively. Emphasis will be placed on interactive discussion and case studies, with handouts provided to help give a reference for the new drugs and assist in future prescribing and learning needs.

For each class, we will cover MOAs, place in therapy, dosing, contraindications, drug interactions, monitoring, warnings, and cover relevant literature and case studies.
